  24. SYMPTOM:

  26. This patch program, "pat61000.exe," fixes two problems found in the 
  27. GroupWise 4.1 DOS and Remote DOS Clients.
  28.  
  29. 1. The patch modifies "of.exe," "rof.exe," and "of.com" so that
  30. these programs work properly with Novell NetWare 1,000-user
  31. servers.
  32.  
  33. 2. The patch modifies "of.fil" and "rof.fil" so that GroupWise users can view 
  34. WP 6.1 documents.   It should be noted that this patch modifies the code 
  35. so that it treats WP 6.1 documents as WP 6.0 documents.  This means 
  36. the viewer will ignore features that are unique to WP 6.1 documents.

  40. This patch will resolve the mentioned items.

  52. Installation Instructions:
  53.  
  54. 1. Create a temporary directory to perform the patch process.
  55.  
  56. ex. C:\MD GWPATCH
  57.  
  58. 2. Copy PAT6100.EXE into the C:\GWPATCH directory.
  59.  
  60. 3. From the Post Office directory copy OF.EXE, OF.COM, OF.FIL into the 
  61. C:\GWPATCH directory.

  63. ex. X:\PO\OFDOS40\COPY OF.* C:\GWPATCH
  64.  
  65. note: For GroupWise 4.1 Remote DOS Clients, copy ROF.EXE and ROF.FIL 
  66. into the C:\GWPATCH directory.

  68. If you want to patch only one or two of the files, make sure that
  69. only the files you want patched are in same directory as the patch
  70. program.  The patch program will always try to find all five files. 
  71. If a file does not exist in the directory, that file simply won't
  72. be patched; the program will continue and will try to find the next
  73. file.

  75. 4. Execute pat61000.exe.
  76.

  79. If a file is patched, you will receive a message on your monitor
  80. screen that says, "... patched at xxxxx"  where xxxxx is the offset
  81. in the file where the patch begins.
  82.  
  83. If the file has already been patched or if your version of
  84. GroupWise already contains the bug fix, you will receive a message
  85. that says,  "... not patched. Pattern Not Found."
  86.  
  87. 5. Once this has been performed you can copy the new files to any Post Office you wish to update.

  93. 6. This completes the update process.
